Surfside Studio Tour is a free, self-guided tour of artist and artisan studios. The tour is located just outside of Halifax/Dartmouth on the scenic Eastern Shore, along Nova Scotia’s Highway 207, through the communities of Lawrencetown, East and West Lawrencetown, Three Fathom Harbour, Seaforth, Grand Desert, and West Chezzetcook.

 Surfside Studio Tour was founded in 2018 by Amanda Cashin and David Amos, with the support of Tonya MacPhail and Fred Leach. The idea for the tour emerged from the realization of the remarkable concentration of artistic talent along Nova Scotia’s scenic Highway 207.

Surfside Studio Tour is currently lead by Amanda Cashin and Alissa Kloet with the support of Krista Stacey and Tracy Leal.  

Many hands have contributed to the success of the tour over the years including previous volunteers Mary-Elizabeth O’Toole and Stephen Parsons. Since its inception 50 artists and craftspeople have welcomed visitors into their homes and studios to help Surfside Studio Tour accomplish its mission of enhancing the appreciation of artistic thought and process through learning and personalized connection with artists and artisans, while contributing to the economic growth of our creative community.

A visit to Surfside Studio Tour offers the chance to explore one of Nova Scotia’s most stunning coastlines, while enjoying a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process behind a diverse range of art forms— such as painting, pottery, ironwork, woodwork, photography, screen-printing, textile art, and more! You'll meet the artists in the very spaces that inspire their work, and have the opportunity to engage with them through live or interactive demonstrations or intimate conversations about their art and process.
