Deedee Morris
TOUR STOP #tbd
Deedee began teaching herself photography at a very young age and has continued to do so to this day. She has been working in the field of photography for roughly 20 years. Deedee says “I don't remember a time without a camera in my hand, always wanting to document and play with the light I see. In my client work, I focus on family and portraits, mostly of women. In my personal work, I focus on projects that explore inner themes, such as motherhood, the connection women and men have to the environment around us, spirituality and the strength and bravery of women in general. I use water and the natural world in most of what I shoot. These days, I'm also loving getting back to my roots using film and experimenting with different processes and have just begun to play with cyanotypes and anthrotypes.”
Deedee says her process for creating art is to overthink as much as possible before finally attempting the project she has been overthinking. From there, it's a matter of organizing models, figuring out location, preparing all the tools she needs, and praying for the weather she needs for the mood she requires. Then it's a process of letting go of all expectations and allowing what's present to be what is captured. Editing is the part of the process where Deedee says she gets to pretend she’s a painter and she can really get her vision for the final piece to come alive.
